How to do a homemade herbal infused pedicure

Posted by on

It's coming to the end of sandal season, which can only mean one thing: our feet are in need of a good pampering. This herbal infused pedicure will replenish your tootsies and restore them from their summer wear.

1. Pedicure soak

The first step is the pedicure soak. Fill your tub with a few inches of warm water and add in the soak ingredients (below). Let your feet soak for 1--15 minutes. The warm water and herbs will help soften your skin and nails. When you're done soaking, pat your feet dry with a towel and trim your nails in the shape desired.

Herbal infused pedicure soak ingredients
  • 1 tbsp of fresh or dried lavender buds
  • 3 sprigs of fresh rosemary
  • 1 tbsp lemon peel zest
  • 4 drops eucalyptus essential oil
  • 1 tbsp sweet almond oil
  • 3 tbsp Epsom bath salts
Method
  1. Half-fill a saucepan with water and warm over a high heat until simmering.
  2. Remove from the heat and add the lavender, rosemary and lemon zest. Put a lid over it and let the herbs steep for about 15 minutes.
  3. Strain the infused water and set aside.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the oils with the Epsom salts, then add this to the herbal infused water.
  5. Add this mixture to your warm bath water and soak your feet!

2. Time for a scrub

Next, it's time to exfoliate with this citrus rosemary foot scrub. Massage into your feet with small, circular motions. Don't forget your cuticles! With the scrub still on, wrap each foot in a warm, damp hand towel and soak for 10 minutes. This will help make the most of the herbs. Afterwards, remove the towels and rinse.

Citrus rosemary foot scrub ingredients
  • 3 tbsp pink Himalayan salt, coarse
  • 200g sea salt, fine
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 drops rosemary essential oil
  • 2 tbsp grapefruit juice
  • 1 1/2 fractionated coconut oil
  • 1 sprig fresh rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 tbsp grapefruit zest
Method
  1. Mix together the Himalayan salt and sea salt. Slowly add in the juice.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the coconut and rosemary oil together and add in the salt mixture and stir until fully combined.
  3. Chop up the sprig of rosemary and add to the scrub along with the zest. Stir to combine!

3. Replenish and moisturise

The final step is moisturising the nail and cuticles. Rub a small amount of the cuticle oil recipe below into your cuticles and nail beds. Lastly, moisturise your feet!
