Make your own natural toothpaste

Posted by on

The first toothpaste is thought to have been created by the ancient Egyptians using ashes from burnt oxen hooves or egg shells. This was then turned into powder and mixed with water and volcanic rock to create a paste. The paste was intended to remove accumulations of food, plaque, etc.

Today, conventional toothpaste serves a number of functions, including preventing decay, improving breath, teeth whitening, and lots more. Unfortunately, the ingredients of toothpaste often contains harmful additives, such as sweeteners, triclosan and sulphates. These ingredients are bad for the environment as they end up contaminating the ocean.

  • 2 tbsp coconut oil, melted
  • 8-10 drops peppermint essential oil.
